Volunteering isn't just about giving your time — it's about gaining something too. A connection, a perspective, a reminder of what community actually means. At Suitcase For Life, we believe the journey toward a better future is something we walk together — and that means every volunteer leaves a little transformed, too.
What You Give
Every individual deserves the chance to move forward. At Suitcase For Life, we provide the mentorships, classes, and support groups that help people unpack negative, revolving cycles and step into something better. But none of it happens without you.
When you volunteer, you're not just filling a shift — you're helping someone set down what's been weighing on them and pack their bags for a new beginning. As a mentor, class leader, or support ally, you become part of the turning point in someone's story.
What You Gain
Volunteers tell us the experience changes them just as much as the people they serve. Here's what they take with them:
Deeper empathy — walking alongside someone facing real challenges expands how you see the world
New skills — whether you're facilitating groups, mentoring one-on-one, or teaching, you'll grow as a communicator and leader
Real connection — build relationships that go beyond a transaction and feel genuinely meaningful
A sense of purpose — the kind that's hard to find and impossible to forget
Whether you're an individual looking for meaningful service, a family wanting to give back together, or a company building a
culture of impact — there's a place for you here.
Ongoing Program Roles
Community Events
Some of our most impactful volunteer moments happen at our signature community events — and we need hands on deck to make them happen. These events are open to all volunteers and are a great way to get started.
Looking for something consistent? Our monthly programs offer a rhythm of service and connection all year long.
Unveiling Truth — Women's monthly meeting meets every 2nd Saturday of the month.
Unveiling Truth is a support group for women 18+ who wish to identify and unpack their negative cycles and find a more positive perspective on life. As a volunteer, you help hold space for that journey — showing up as a facilitator, encourager, or behind-the-scenes support so every woman in the room feels seen and safe.
My Brother's Keeper — Men's monthly group meets every 4th Saturday of the month.
My Brother's Keeper is a group for men 18 and up that helps edify and build men to be better role models for their community and generations to come. Volunteers walk alongside these men — mentoring, facilitating, and modeling the consistency that change requires.
No one should have to journey toward a fresh start alone — and you don't have to volunteer alone either. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to show up every week, there's a place for you here.
"When you help someone unpack their past,
you both walk away lighter."
